Cook time
3–5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups ripe mango, peeled and diced (fresh or frozen)
  • 2–3 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey
  • 1–2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2–4 tablespoons water, divided

Method

  1. If using frozen mango, thaw it before preparing the sauce.
  2. Place the diced mango in a blender or food processor.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons sugar or honey, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 2 tablespoons water.
  4. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
  5. Taste and add the remaining sugar or honey and lime juice as needed.
  6. If the mixture is too thick, gradually blend in the remaining water until it reaches a smooth, pourable consistency.
  7. Transfer the mango purée to a 1-quart saucepan.
  8. Cook over low heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until gently heated and slightly thickened.
  9. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.

Practical Woman's Secret
Choose fully ripe, sweet mangoes for the smoothest texture and richest flavor. Add water gradually to keep the sauce thick enough to coat cheesecake or ice cream without becoming watery.
